Is there a permanent component in US real GDP *

چکیده
Using three recent panel unit root methodologies, we strongly reject the unit root hypothesis for real per capita income for the 48 contiguous states from 1929 to 1995. The rate of convergence is sensitive to assumptions of the heterogeneity of the intercept, first order autoregressive coefficients, lag length and accommodating for a trend break after the 1973 oil shock. 2000 Elsevier Science S.A. Is It One Break or Ongoing Permanent Shocks That Explains U.S. Real GDP? A Bayesian Analysis Using Unobserved Component Model
We conduct both an approximate Bayesian Model Averaging (BMA) and an exact Bayesian analysis to incorporate break date uncertainty of the mean growth rate into the trend-cycle decomposition of U.S. real GDP. Our results suggest a structural break in mean growth rate of U.S. real GDP in 1970s. Comparing to the models assuming fixed break date, we find higher uncertainty in the posterior density ...
متن کاملتحلیل تصحیح خطای برداری ساختاری (SVEC) از تأثیرات شوکهای نفتی بر شاخصهای کلان اقتصادی در ایران
The main objective of this study is to investigate the effects of oil shocks on GDP, prices level, money and exchange rates in Iran by using the structural vector error correction (SVEC) approach model covering the period 1980Q2-2010Q1. The findings of this study reveal that positive shock in oil real price has significant and positive effect on the real GDP in the short, medium and long. The i...

In this study by using Markov Regime Switching Heteroscedasticity Models (MRSH) in the form of state-space model the behavior of stock returns is examined. This approach endogenously permits the volatility to switch as the date and regime change and allows us to decompose the permanent and transitory component of stock returns. The period of the study is the fourth month of 2000 to the seventh ...
متن کاملBusiness cycles in Iran: Evidence from asymmetry and correlated shocks
In this Paper, business cycle asymmetry in Iran has been investigated using a nonlinear unobserved component model. In this regard, according to Kim and Nelsonchr('39')s (1999) interpretation of Friedman plucking model (1993), asymmetric transitory component has been modeled and simultaneously the possibility of a correlation between transitory and permanent shocks has also been considered. The...
متن کاملSTLS / US - VECM 6 . 1 : A Vector Error - Correction Forecasting Model of the US Economy
Any research or policy analysis exercise in economics must be consistent with the timeseries properties of observed macroeconomic data. This paper discusses in detail the specification of a six-variable vector error-correction forecasting model. We test for cointegration among those variables: the CPI, the implicit price deflator for GDP, real money balances (M1), the federal funds rate, the yi...
